E-max

E-max is a brand name for a high-strength, all-ceramic material made from lithium disilicate glass-ceramic and used to fabricate crowns, veneers and onlays. It is valued for its combination of translucency and strength, producing restorations that closely mimic natural tooth enamel while resisting fracture better than older feldspathic porcelains.

E-max restorations are made in a dental laboratory or by chairside CAD/CAM milling and are typically cemented or bonded to the prepared tooth; good bonding technique improves both retention and resistance to chipping. With proper preparation and oral hygiene, E-max restorations can last many years, though they may be less suitable for long-span posterior bridges or teeth with heavy bite forces compared with zirconia-based options.
