Bonding (Dental)
Bonding (Dental) is a minimally invasive cosmetic and restorative procedure in which a tooth-coloured composite resin is applied directly to the tooth to repair chips, close small gaps, mask minor stains, or reshape teeth. The surface is lightly prepared, an adhesive is applied, the resin is sculpted to the desired form, hardened with a curing light and then polished to blend with the surrounding dentition.
The treatment is typically completed in a single visit with little or no anaesthesia and is a conservative alternative to veneers or crowns, though bonded restorations are generally less durable and more prone to staining and chipping. With good oral hygiene, avoidance of hard or staining foods and regular dental reviews, bonding can last for several years, but patients with extensive damage or higher aesthetic demands may be advised to consider longer-lasting options.
