Aligner
An aligner is a thin, custom-made, transparent thermoplastic tray that fits snugly over the teeth to apply gentle, controlled pressure and move them into a new position over time. Unlike traditional fixed braces, aligners are removable for eating and cleaning and are typically worn for 20-22 hours a day while being replaced every one to two weeks as the treatment progresses.
Aligner treatment begins with an assessment and digital or physical impressions to plan a sequence of movements; the patient then receives a series of aligners and regular check-ups to monitor progress. Aligners are suitable for many mild to moderate spacing and crowding issues, but complex cases may still require fixed appliances or additional orthodontic techniques, and good patient compliance and oral hygiene are essential for successful results.
