Myofunctional Therapy

Myofunctional therapy is a programme of targeted exercises and behavioural guidance designed to retrain the muscles of the mouth, face and throat. It addresses patterns such as tongue thrusting, mouth breathing and atypical swallowing that can affect speech, dental alignment, facial growth and breathing.

A trained clinician will assess oral posture and movement, then recommend a personalised series of simple exercises and practice routines, often monitored over several weeks to months. The therapy is non-invasive, can complement orthodontic or medical care for sleep-disordered breathing, and its success depends on regular practice and collaboration with other dental or health professionals when needed.
